We have experience with advisory systems includes full custody recordkeeping, portfolio modeling, automatic rebalancing, calculation of personal investment performance, tax efficient trading, web-based internet servicing, compliance/regulatory subsystems, quarterly client statements, annual tax forms and a host of other support tools.
Traditionally Mutual Fund/ETF wrap fee-based portfolios have required at least two different accounting/software systems to provide investors with a mutual fund/ETF wrap service. Often times a portfolio accounting system and a legacy custodial brokerage accounting system are paired together to provide an investor with these products. This traditional pairing plus the addition of portfolio accounting support tools creates an expensive and complex process.
One of the principle advantages of our subaccounting model was only one incidence of the investor records was required. The custodian of the assets remains with the “issuer” in an omnibus account for mutual fund/ETF positions and no traditional legacy brokerage system or custodial platform, portfolio accounting system or trust system/transfer agency system was required for client record keeping. All the overhead and cost of a portfolio accounting system and brokerage system was eliminated and the investor, registered rep and product distributor got a fully functional robust automated advisory account.
Most importantly using load waived mutual funds in the portfolio model allowed the distributor to gain revenue from mutual fund subaccounting recordkeeping services from the mutual fund management companies. This fact together with the low operating costs associated with the platform allows the business model to return additional profits to the distributor supplying the mutual fund wrap service.
